Campaign Objectives:
- To promote and protect the University as a pillar of democratic society through its provision of a public space in which liberty of thought, opinion and expression can flourish and from which new ideas, alternatives and solutions can emerge for social transformation and a resolution to the armed and social conflict in Colombia.
- To secure that the constitutional human rights of students and staff are recognised and respected by the Government, local and national law enforcement agencies, the military and paramilitary groups.
- To Develop and expand consciousness regarding human rights issues in the University community through a course programme for students and staff with the further objective of extending such knowledge to wider society.
- To fight against and propose alternatives to the imposition of the neoliberal economic model from which originates the impetus for privatisation, so that the public university remains public, autonomous and accessible to the people.
- To Organise and develop the existing infrastructures within the university community so that human rights can be effectively monitored, violations recorded and the information shared and made public.
- To Create a space for denunciation to the National and International Communities to illuminate the gravity of the situation and the necessity for action.
- The development of forms of protection of the university community including a commitment from the Government, and University Institutions.
- To focus the direction of academic research on the analysis of social problems engendered by the armed and social conflict and propose solutions for their resolution.
- To bing to an end the impunity protecting the purportrators of human rights violactions against the Colombian University Community by means of public hearings and tribunals, judicial acompanyment of victims and by attempting to bring cases to national and international courts.
- To Involve the participation of the University Community and the National and International Community to elaborate on what we have so far so and move forward so that the objectives become realities
